How to Help Our Kids

We could use prayers for our family as we adjust to a new Sunday School hour at church. Our church is starting a Sunday School for children from 8-9am. Then we will have church from 9am to 12 or 1 or 2 or … afterwards. We are thrilled because up until this point our children have been in a church service in a language they do not understand and lots of heat for three plus hours without much that is intentionally done for children (aka families don’t attend churches for what they offer in children's programming). But now there is going to be a time specifically for children’s instruction. So, please join us in praying that this will be a great opportunity for our children to learn more Hausa and make better friendships at church. And pray as we decide how to manage this as parents. Overall we feel like having children sit and listen (especially to a language that they don't understand) for 4 hours at a time is overwhelming instead of a pleasant worship experience for a child. Please pray for us as we strive to be in community and also be considerate of the needs of our children. Please pray for understanding of the church, as it is hard for the church to realize how much we have been working to adapt culturally because we still stand out as very different!

Up to this point the only thing for children is choir practice that happens in a
very rote manner on some Sundays during the sermon
