Rickshaw Kickoff

The rickshaw taxis have gotten out on the street smoothly! Again there were more details with paperwork and further meetings, but everything was wrapped up cleanly last week. The drivers were brought into to talk about expectations and get training on how to operate and maintain the vehicles. We ended by praying over the taxis and the work with the drivers and their pastors. On Sunday, at the church where most of the drivers attend, there was a big thanksgiving where the drivers stood and were recognized and gave thanks to God for their new opportunity. One church leader came to me afterward with excitement saying that he hadn’t thought much of the rickshaw idea when he first heard about it, but now he could see how a little thing like this can make a great impact, not only because of the money it brings in for the church to use on outreach and businesses for evangelists, but also for Christians in churches who are struggling to feed their families. It has already been a great encouragement to the church and the drivers report in the first week that they are able to reasonably bring in the money they owe the National Office each day and take in a healthy amount for their families. So far it’s been a great start!
