Benefits at Bible schools

The fish basins with the man who built them.

We’ve been experimenting with farming fish for over a year now, and are finally moving on to trying to raise them on a large scale. To use the best land available for the church and put them in a community where they can also affect better nutrition, we decided to develop fish farming at one of the Bible schools. A very experienced director has recently been appointed back to the Bible school and is very much on board with the vision. This vision is for irrigating moringa trees with the fish water, and also insuring that the business is run carefully to have the biggest benefit for the school and students. It was exciting for us to see that the four basins have already been built at the school, preparing for around 1,500 fish. 

There’s another exciting initiative in the planning stage for this Bible school. An organization, which supports ministry by helping entrepreneurs, is researching a business initiative that can bring good income from the abundant land Bible school. They are sending a researcher in March but having some local ag. specialists collect the initial data now. One of the most promising ideas is raising chickens on a large scale, but growing all the material for their food on-site, rather than importing it like all the big operations do it. This will take a lot of investment, but could help the Bible school develop into a strong institution that can help students a lot more than its current capabilities.
