The Saga of Old New Cars

After what felt like a long process of explaining what we wanted and searching for something available that was the right size for our sensibilities, it just so happened that the person who was scouting cars for us owned the type of car we were looking for!  He had recently traded a motorcycle to a friend for this mid-size Renault sedan with a good engine.  Once we found it, there were several things to fix like the gear box and radiator, getting parts from a nearby more developed country.  It’s a car that should get us around just fine, but has lots of little details like temperamental door locks, which remind us we were aiming for a car that would be roughly equivalent to what a local pastor might be able to drive rather than a huge white 4x4 beast associated with foreign money.  So now we’re building a list of the smaller things to work on as well.  We just started driving about a week ago, and it is every bit as crazy as people have told us.  But it has been very helpful in running some long errands we have been putting off and transporting visiting guests as well.  To be continued...
