| Our front yard during a normal rain, which is typically a down pour. |
Each season of the year here has
something wonderful to enjoy and something that is not so exciting.
The rainy season brings incredible rains that feel so very good. But
along with it many, many bugs come out and rain manages to come in
even the closed windows. Also, it brings lower temperatures (mid to
upper 90's), but high humidity – making a very sticky hot.
The cooler season- well that season is
almost all exciting for us, except for lack of precipitation. For
the people here it is a difficult season because they mostly live
outside and it can get down to about 55 degrees, and so it can be very, very cold with a strong wind when you're wearing the same clothes you wear in 120
degrees. Sadly some older
people die from getting too cold. Since our home is bigger than one
room and doesn't cool as fast, we don't experience these cold issues too much.
The hot dry season- well that season
doesn't have too many exciting features, but we certainly are not
cold. We have heat rashes and wake up with very wet, sweaty pillows
and clothes during this time. Unfortunately, this season brings lots
of troubles with water and electricity.
Then we are back to the hot wet season
again! We've realized it's a blessing that God changes the seasons for us
regularly because otherwise we may not appreciate the variation of struggles in each season.
PS - It is amazing how every book we read for school and our curriculum assumes that you're living in a four season year (with a summer, fall, winter, spring).
