Interruptions All the Time
I
did a lot of talking about interruptions before we left the States, as a way of
talking about how God calls us to be involved in relationships that take our
time. We are being pressed to live that
out constantly at our new guest house, as boys of guardian of the compound are
always around and either wanting to help or wanting attention. They have really been great with our children
and have provided some good language practice (until they start dumping
vocabulary like it’s coming out of a fire hose!). But we are also getting the experience of
living in a more public/communal setting, where we don’t have much if any time
to ourselves. That can be wearing, but
we are trying to lean into the interruptions to be open the relationships that
they are providing and watching where that will lead. We’re also thinking about how to establish
healthy boundaries and planning those for our future house!
