Open Face Proverbs

“It is better to open your face to your neighbor than to lay out a carpet and open your house to him.”  This is a translation of a “Casa” proverb that was shared with us by our hosts to communicate that we should be open with them about any problems we’re having and be open to what they are directing us to do.  This is interesting commentary on what “Casa” people find important.  It’s important to have an open and welcoming face when you talk to someone, or else they receive it as not the nicest reception.  I think this goes along with the culture of greeting, but also shows that the body language and other context that is going on during a conversation is just as important as what people are saying or talking about.
